W1: Reimagining Everyday Objects

 

    Almost every day and most of the people carry backpacks, it can carry anything like computers, books, or gadgets. Nevertheless, most of the traditional backpack’s design are lack comfort, security, and organization. By observing these weaknesses, we can redesign backpacks that satisfy buyers needs in comfort, security, and organization features. I decided to call it “The Smart Backpack”.

    I often feel annoy because traditional backpacks are lack of organization, normally the backpacks are only having a one or two section and small pocket to store my item. It is tough to find things quickly in a busy space, especially in urgent situations. The Smart Backpack solves this problem with a well-designed internal design. It has more pockets and sections, which including mesh spaces for accessories and safe zipped pockets for valuable items. I believe it can save my time and decrease annoyance when I am looking for my stuff.

    

    Furthermore, traditional backpacks have a security problem especially in crowded places. To prevent this, the Smart Backpack has a strong anti-theft design. It has hidden zippers and pocket which can prevent pickpockets. Also, an advanced technology system could be functioned by a smartphone application enables users to simply protect their belongings. Other than that, the Smart Backpack has built-in GPS tracker allowing users to locate their backpacks if it is misplaced or stolen.

    Besides that, the Smart Backpack includes a build-in USB port and an integrated power bank with a solar panel inserted on the outside of the backpack. Sometimes people face running out of battery on smartphones or laptops on the road, hence this feature can ensure that user can charge their devices anytime.

    Users might face their devices or content getting wet in their backpack when having a harsh weather. Based on these issues, the surface of the Smart Backpack is made by water-resistant and durable materials. This help user does no need to worry about their device or content getting wet, ensuring the content remain dry and protected.

    

    Moreover, level of comfortable is crucial key when it comes to long-term use and carrying a heavy weight. While carrying a heavy weight people could have discomfort and strain on the shoulder. Hence, The Smart Backpack promotes ergonomic design which means it can be adjusted according to user needs. The padded shoulder straps can minimize the pressure points which can bring a more comfortable carrying experience. Adjustable straps can distribute weight equally and chest strap improve stability, making heavy loads easier to handle.

    The design idea come from the cases regarding backpack been stolen, having strain on user’s shoulder and back, also the convenience when people run out of the battery on their devices, and content getting wet in the backpack. The issues encounter me as well.

    The design of the Smart Backpack are centers around the user’s need for security, comfort, and convenience. The GPS tracking system can provide users a peace of mind. Then, the internal design makes it easy to keep the belongings and save user’s time when they are looking for their item. Moreover, ergonomic design can enhance comfort which lead to user’s satisfaction and reducing strain on shoulder.
